SECONDARY REFLECTOR LASER TESTS

Agira Photonics

  • Problem

    • Conduct reflectance tests of ​different materials for fabrication of the secondary reflector

  • Process

    • Created overall frame with 80/20 extrusions and equally spaced acrylic ribs 

    • Glued substrate to ribs in order to achieve the curved contour of the secondary reflector

    • Retrofitted a laser, lenses, and photodiode set-up to the frame

    • Measured light intensities directly as control values and post-reflection as experimental values

  • Results

    • ​Gained valuable experience in design of experiments​
    • Collected hundreds of data points to assess viability of contour design and reflective materials

INDOOR OLED LIGHTING FIXTURES

Agira Photonics

  • Problem

    • Design several lighting fixtures that make use of smaller in-house light panels and are aesthetically pleasing

  • Process

    • Measured the smaller panels and decided how many to include in each design

    • Modeled all 8 designs in SolidWorks

    • Took one design and produced it as an actual proof of concept

  • Results

    • Gained valuable experience in rapid prototyping

    • Allowed for great exercise in creative abilities
